Professional Learning, Communication and Strategic Planning for 24/25

I am so excited for the 2025 school year and all the hope that it brings! No matter how much we prepare we never feel ready for our students to arrive.  But every year, they come bouncing into our schools filled with eagerness, excitement and a bit of nervousness and we take a collective breath acknowledging that we are as ready as we can be!!

Throughout the summer we held many days of our Administrator’s Leadership Learning.  Last week we hosted our new educators with two days of professional learning and time to set up their classrooms.  This week teachers and paraprofessionals arrived on Monday.  They spent time together as a whole district for convocation and then in their buildings for school level conversations and deep dives into our new curriculum platforms.  As I walked through the professional learning events it was great to see everyone engaged, asking questions and excited about what is to come.

We are continuing to work on our communication within the school district and the greater Georgetown community.  To that end we have launched a new district website which can be found here.  We will continue to fine tune it and are open to suggestions and ideas from everyone.  This summer I met with many families which is always wonderful and energizing.  If you would like to connect please reach out to Tracy Pigeon (parkert@georgetown.k12.ma.us) to schedule time with me.  As with last year, I have scheduled monthly time in each school building for “office hours” to be available for all staff.  Additionally, I will continue my weekly meetings and walkthroughs with each school leader affording me consistent opportunities to see teaching and learning in action!

The strategic planning initiative is underway.  Thank you to all who graciously volunteered to participate in the process.  We will loop back with you soon to give details and next steps.  We will begin collecting community input in September.  I will give regular updates on the progress.

Last year was a year of Listening, Learning, and Understanding.  We collectively made many adjustments and changes to help modernize the district.  I will always Listen, continue to Learn and strive for Understanding with a focus this year on supporting, growing and implementing the new foundational pieces to ensure integrity.  We will grow together and celebrate our successes!

Respectfully,
Margo
