Shout Outs

Alexandra Hayoz-Laverdiere moved a small mountain in recruiting staff and parent volunteers to chaperone the Model UN field trip this past weekend in Ipswich. In her own words:

“This past weekend thirty-five Georgetown High School students attended their first Model UN conference of the season. All students worked diligently to prepare for their roles in an assortment of committees like the French Revolution, Iranian Hostage Crisis, September 12, 2001, the Court of Henry VIII, and Ending the Raj. These conferences require students to use a wide range of skills like clear communication, time management, collaboration and compromise.

Our team walked away with a whopping seven awards! Congratulations go to Colby Kato, Emma Kate Winter, Sean Hornberger, Rebecca Bullock, Summer Young, Gillien Figueroa and Spencer McPherson”.

Thank you Alexandra for your willingness and fortitude to make sure our students have these wonderful, positive, life altering experiences!!

Laura Valli and Cassie Murray for opening their classroom for a peer observation and exemplifying what a strong co-teaching relationship looks like. During the observation, they explicitly taught and modeled executive functioning strategies, seamlessly guiding students through various activities. Their collaboration was so cohesive that an outsider would not have been able to distinguish the content teacher from the Special Educator.

This shout out is to celebrate the Georgetown High School Spirit Week.  The culmination of the event is a Pep Rally on Wednesday with a series of competitions between grade levels.  Our students will participate in games like Hungry Hippos, Charades, Trivia and physical activities such as a 3 Pointer Contest and Tug o’ War!  There is also a secret ballot vote on which grade level had the most spirit in decorating their hallway. See the pictures below:
