Shout Outs:
- A humongous Shout Out for Steve McDonald, Director of Technology, for creating a Georgetown Public Schools YouTube page. Here is the link where you will find spotlight on excellence content, etc. THANK YOU Steve for pushing forward our technology modernization plan!!
- A colleague wants to give a huge shout out to Mary Ellen Russell, MSHS Assistant Cook Manager.. She does an outstanding job when she covers for our manager, even on short notice. There have been several occasions where we’ve been down one or two kitchen workers, and she stepped up in a big way. The kitchen ran smoothly, and she kept things on track. She also helped out in the dish room without hesitation. I feel fortunate to be part of her team.
- Another shout out for the whole Technology Team; Marc Fornier, Jacob Bailes and Steve McDonald for building an amazing team to support our infrastructure, staff and students. Our helpdesk ticket system is down to 23 with half of them being larger project requests. Thank you!
- A fellow educator wants to shout out Mrs. Hayoz, US History teacher. She has demonstrated great teaching variety in her class. She uses different classroom based activities, concept mapping, chain notes, idea line up, Jeopardy and class assimilations of concepts. The students are engaged and receptive to her teaching style. Great way to educate! Mrs. Hayoz keep up the amazing work!
- A colleague is shouting out Georgy Fazio, Penn Brook Library Tech. She is the most dedicated librarian I have ever met! Her attention to keeping the library in order and organized is admirable and appreciated. Students are welcomed into a beautiful space where Georgy thoughtfully reads books to her students that help them see the world from a new perspective and stretch their imagination. She is a true asset to Penn Brook.
- I want to shout out the PTA for supplying the Strategic Plan Survey Gift Cards! The winners are Sara Treem who completed the survey during the first few days and won the $100 Visa Gift Card! Reagan Moyer won the raffle prize of a $50 Visa Gift Card! Thank you PTA for helping get the word out regarding the survey which resulted in over 250 people completing it.

On Thursday, March 6, 2025 the School Committee voted to approve the Fully Funded Budget which requires voters to approve a proposition 2 ½ override and the Level Funded Budget which will occur if voters do not approve the proposition 2 ½ override. You can find this information on our website.

As promised when we launched our new website, we continue to improve the content and accessibility. On the District front page we created a section that celebrates our successes and informs the community about the wonderful things students are proud of. You can find the Spotlight on Excellence section here: Spotlight on Excellence
Kindergarten Registration is underway and we are hoping to complete the process by March 25, 2025. We moved the Kindergarten screening process from the fall to the spring so it is important to know who our Kindergarteners will be! Families can reach out to either Perley or Penn Brook to get a registration packet. Please help spread the word.
