Spotlight on Excellence

The Georgetown Middle and High School held their band/chorus concert on March 20, 2025.  It was amazing given the challenges it faced with the Band Teacher being in the position for approximately 12 days!  Thank you David Garcia and Anne Grant for your perseverance, fortitude and amazing energy!  Click here for a video!

Updated PreK information:

We are excited to announce that we will be adding a third preschool class!  This will allow us to educate up to 60 students. These classrooms will continue to follow our integrated model, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. Each classroom will be staffed with one teacher and two paraprofessionals to provide personalized attention and high-quality early childhood education. The program staff will include a Special Education Teacher, Speech and BCBA services, and Physical and Occupational Therapies.

If you are interested in enrolling your child for the fall, registration will open for new families on Friday. March 28, 2025 and will close on Friday April 18, 2025. Registration will be for 5-day (Monday-Friday) schedules only, and spaces will be filled on a first come first serve basis. You can access the registration link here: Preschool Registration Form.

In order to guarantee your child’s place in PreK for next school year you must register and pay the $275,  non refundable deposit by April 18, 2025.  This additional class will afford us to enroll all students currently on the waitlist and a number of new registrations.  Please help communicate this information to other community members who might not receive this blog.

Kindergarten Registration is closing on March 25th (tomorrow)!!  We moved the Kindergarten screening process from the fall to the spring so it is important to know who our Kindergarteners will be!  Families can reach out to either Perley or Penn Brook to get a registration packet.  Please help spread the word.

Shout Outs:

  • Sophie Slade, BCBA, is an invaluable resource within our district and her knowledge and expertise have been so beneficial for supporting students and staff alike. She demonstrates a compassion and resolve that is so inspiring and does not go unnoticed.
  • Lisa Samperi, MSHS Tutor, spends most of the day with students in the Thrive program.  She not only provides academic support to her students, but emotional support as well.  The students feel safe going to her and sharing their struggles with her.  She is a trusted adult, and a great coworker.
  • A fellow educator wants to Shout Out Sophie Slade and Danielle Lamy (Special Educators):  “Both of these amazing ladies day in and day out help keep Penn Brook safe and assist so many students with love and care.  All of their hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed and I wanted to say how lucky the Georgetown school district is to have them in our schools and be a part of our community.  Mrs. Slade and Ms. Lamy are extremely hard working”.
  • I want to thank Debbie Gray, Middle School Art, for sharing student artwork with me.  I told her that I needed some new items for my conference room!!  Having student art is a constant reminder of our students and the importance of always keeping them at the center of every conversation that takes place in the space!!

Help Needed:  Portrait of a Graduate Input- What do want our students graduating from GPS to accomplish and be prepared to do in the future.  We are looking for community input!

On behalf of the students of Georgetown Middle/High School, we would like to invite you to participate in an interview with our students as part of our Portrait of a Graduate initiative. Students from GMHS have been working tirelessly the last several months on creating a district wide profile of a graduate. This project is meant to inform future opportunities for our students in regards to course offerings, extracurriculars and other educational endeavors. We would like your input about what our school can do to ensure success for our students after graduation, therefore we would like to invite you to attend short 30 minute interview sessions. We understand time (especially during working hours) is difficult to come by. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Please sign up using the signup genius Here
