Spotlight on Excellence

Our Advanced Placement test results are coming in.  In the first year of offering AP Physics six out of the seven students who participated in the exam earned a 5, the highest score possible.   Cerise Cauthron, our Teacher,  did a spectacular job teaching our students and ensuring they learned the materials at a mastery level.  Our students are so lucky to have her. Kudos for all the hard work by our students!

UPDATES:

Athletics:  I am excited to introduce our community to Jessica Whitehead.  She was hired as the full time Georgetown Public Schools Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer.   I asked her to write a brief bio introducing herself:

“I’m thrilled to join Georgetown Middle High School as the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer! I grew up in North Andover and graduated from North Andover High School, where I was involved in gymnastics at both the high school and club levels. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Salisbury University on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and my master’s in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University.

For the past eight years, I’ve worked in the high school setting as both an athletic trainer and assistant athletic director. I love being on the sidelines—supporting student-athletes, watching games, and building strong connections. I’m excited to be part of the Georgetown Royals community and look forward to an amazing year ahead!

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my close friends, my younger sister and brother, and my parents. I also have a border collie, named Murphy, who’s always up for a swim or a game of frisbee. I have a bit of a coffee obsession and absolutely love tacos and sushi!”

We are working on a few short videos where Jessica will share her vision and ideas about developing athletics in Georgetown.  We will make them as soon as they are completed.  Additionally, she is holding community drop in hours at the Middle High School.  Here is when she is available if you want to meet her:

8/1 from 10:30am-12:30pm

8/4 from 12:30pm-2:30pm

8/8 from 10:30am-12:30pm

8/11 from 1pm-3pm

8/12 from 3pm-5pm (before the fall sports meeting)

Busing:  I want to thank all of those who engaged in the bus registration process this year.  It is a new system which was glitchy and I appreciate everyone’s patience and perseverance.  If you have not registered your child(ren) for the bus and plan on doing so, it is imperative that you do it immediately as our bus routes are being finalized.  Here are the Bus Registration Instructions.

Technology:  If your High School student is having technical difficulties with their Chromebooks this summer, our tech team is offering drop in office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30 in July. Please direct your child(ren) to the High School for help.  It is very important that our students are ready to start the school year with fully functioning technology.  We don’t want them waiting untill the first day of school to get computer help!   Thank You.
