Spotlight on Excellence
The Georgetown Public Schools entire maintenance and custodial team has gone above and beyond this year. On top of the regular summer cleaning and maintenance they reorganized the classrooms at Penn Brook to include PreK and moved out the 6th grade which resulted in reorganizing the Middle High School.
Shannon Tenney, Early Childhood Coordinator, managed the special education Extended School Year this summer. The feedback from staff and families was that the programming was strong, supportive and ran very smoothly!
UPDATES:
There has been a bit of reorganization at Central Office. Under Mike Anderson’s leadership the Operations Department is taking on the task of managing all transportation needs for our students. This includes supporting the partnership with NRT for general education transportation, and hiring/training van drivers as we move in-district special education services within the GPS umbrella. To support this work, an open building and grounds position was transformed into a Coordinator of Operations. Long time employee, Mike Clancy, was hired for this position. Once he is up to speed, by early September, he will be the contact person for facility rentals and transportation for the 2026 school year.
Athletics: Our new Athletic Director and Trainer is spending time preparing for the 2026 Fall Season, connecting with community partners (GAA) and getting to know the GPS Coaching Staff. We are piloting a new way to connect with our community this year – video communications. Here is the first video from Jessica Whitehead.
