- A Middle School colleague explains that “Julia Webster, our new Thrive teacher at the middle school, has been an incredible addition to our team. She brings positivity, dedication, and genuine care to her students each day. Julia has stepped into her new role with ease and is making a meaningful difference in the lives of her students. Her support and enthusiasm have been a wonderful contribution to our school community!
- One of our Penn Brook staff is sharing that “Allison Trainor has been a great addition to the Penn Brook team! She is the adjustment counselor attached to the Penn Brook lower and upper Thrive program. She is incredibly knowledgeable on how to best support students and incorporate social emotional learning throughout the day in a variety of settings. She is extremely kind, and an incredible support for students, staff, and parents!”
- I am very grateful for the effort and care Michael Murphy (HS ELA Teacher) took to collect formal clothing for students attending Homecoming. Another moment of Georgetown Pride with the staff rising to the need and ensuring our students felt confident and ready to have a great time at the dance!
UPDATES:
Middle High School Principal Jeff Carovillano announced that he will be leaving his position at the end of this school year. I want to thank Mr. Carovillano for the five years he spent at the helm of the middle and high school. His dedication, strong work ethic and his ability to know and connect with his students are a tribute to him as an educator.
GPS has partnered with an outside search agency, NESDEC, to conduct the search for our next principal. We are building out a webpage on our site to keep the community informed of the process and timelines.
We have completed the listening sessions with an estimated 200 people attending them. We’ve had over 690 community members complete “The Future of Georgetown High School – A Community Conversation” survey and are working to analyze the data which will be shared at the next community meeting:
November 13, 2025 from 5:15 – 6:15 in the High School Auditorium – this session is designed to share the data gathered from the survey and listening sessions. We will also talk about the process of how we are moving forward to redesign the high school, including what has already started and where we are going. Additionally, we will share the regulations regarding regionalization and how to enter into a tuition agreement. Though decisions will not be made by this date, we wish to inform the community on the potential future processes and the next steps.
We will be holding grade-specific listening sessions as well. The next session will be with our current 8th grade parents. This will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025 at GMHS Auditorium. I will be there along with two School Committee members, with the goal to listen to your thoughts, concerns and excitement over the future of GHS. Additionally, I have multiple focus groups scheduled with our current 8th grade students to gain a deeper understanding of their experiences and what their hopes are for the future of GHS.
