UPDATES: With conversations happening regarding the future of Georgetown High School, it is important to understand that we are in the very early stages of potentially a multi-year process. We are engaging in these conversations as options for our students if enrollment continues to decline. Please know that as a community of educators our priority is to give all current and future students an amazing educational experience. To this end, we are moving forward with strong curriculum, empowering our educators and modernizing all aspects of schooling.
The high school redesign is well underway and continues to be one of our top priorities. Under the leadership of Jenny Winter the guidance department, a foundational core of the school, is being revisioned to be a powerful hub for college, career and mental health support. In collaboration with staff, she is building out the early college experience for our students which can expand college offerings as early as 2nd semester with GHS students attending classes on the Northern Essex Community College campus. This will expand our student’s educational opportunities, as well as meeting new peers and increasing their friend group. Ms. Winter is working with local businesses to pilot deep experiential internships for our students. This will afford students with the opportunity to explore work experiences, develop skill, earn graduation credits and gain knowledge that will inform future goals. As programs like this grow, Georgetown High School will become a destination on the North Shore where all students will have strong academics and opportunities to gain life experience beyond the wall of the school building.
