BUS RIDER INFORMATION FOR 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR

May 28, 2025

Dear Georgetown Families,

As many of you know, in January 2025, the School Committee revised its Transportation Policy EEAA “Walkers & Riders”. This policy change, although approved in January 2025, will now take effect with the new 2025-2026 school year.

  • Students in Grades K-6 who reside 2 or more miles from their school will be provided FREE transportation. Students living under the mileage requirement may purchase a Bus Pass for the 2025-2026 school year.
  • Students in Grades 7-12 may purchase a Bus Pass for the 2025-2026 school year.

Bus Pass Fees are $180 for 1 student, $360 for 2 or more students. There is a family cap of $360. Registration will be open soon. There will be a late fee of $25 per Bus Pass starting July 1st.

All students will be required to register for the bus using MySchoolBucks. Instructions for registration will be sent via email (and posted on our website) once the system implementation has been completed.

Any student who has FREE or REDUCED LUNCH will receive FREE or REDUCED transportation. This information will be in the MySchoolBucks portal when you register. In the portal you will only be able to see information for your child(ren).

If you have not completed an application for Free or Reduced Lunch, please use this form to complete asap. Instructions can be found here. This information is highly confidential, however, for the GPS staff members who manage food service and bussing to access your information, you MUST complete this form. Information for Riding the Bus:

Students are expected to be at their designated stops on time. The times can fluctuate based on traffic, weather and unexpected conditions. It is recommended that students arrive early (5-10 minutes) to the stops.

Students in Grades K-2 must have an adult present to be let off the bus. If you wish your child to get off with a sibling, another adult, or alone, a note must be provided to the driver and a copy of the note will be kept at NRT for their records.

Please note that routes are created by NRT and they can change from year to year. Once routes are established, changes may be made as necessary to ensure safety and efficiency.

All information regarding bus delays or changes will be sent to the parents as soon as the information becomes available.
